At Marston’s we take training seriously and are always evolving the way we go about it. Whether it’s new and creative ways to train at one of our investment sites, exciting innovations such as our new game-based training app or encouraging our employees to take the first steps on our career path.
Innovations like this help us stand out as an employer committed to developing the skills and career prospects of its team members. As Senior Training Partner, by continually assessing both the hospitality industry and latest innovations in employee training, you’ll implement a strategy that offers Learning & Development opportunities that our competitors don’t.
With an ambitious new openings/investment programme, and a desire to have industry leading career development for our team members, your role will play an integral part in delivering our L&D strategy.
With over 50 sites identified for transformational investments, you will lead our Skills Training Team, though your direct reports of Training Managers to deliver pre-opening training that not only delivers the very best guest service and food quality, but also excites, engages and inspires our pub teams. With multiple openings training simultaneously you’ll be required to balance your time carefully, ensuring we continue to support the rest of the pub estate whilst making every investment a success.
In addition to managing the training of new-openings, your role will involve working in collaboration with your L&D colleagues to deliver industry leading, skills-led, career development training. Working with our Digital Training Team, our Apprenticeship Manager and our Leadership Development team, you’ll be able to deliver internal progression, through creative and innovative methods making us stand out from our competitors and ensuring we retain the very best talent in our pubs.
Working with internal stakeholders across the business and third parties, you’ll make sure training is engaging, uses the latest methods on the market and delivers to business requirements. You’ll also visit Marston’s sites across the country so you can find out directly from team members the kind of training they’d like to see. Once they’re in place, you’ll use reporting to guide their development.
Ideally, you’ll have worked in a similar role within the hospitality industry or at a similar sized company. What’s more, you’ll be able to communicate easily with both stakeholders and team members whose input will be so important in what you do. Managing a large team of Skills Trainers through your direct reports of Training Managers, you’ll be largely autonomous, so being self-motivated and having leadership experience are important. You’ll balance boldness with excellent risk management as you take us into uncharted territory with your training innovations.
The results of your work will be plain to see — successful new openings, better attraction, retention and development. That’s the level of impact you’ll have here. And it’s why you’ll be so well rewarded.
