Marston’s has been trading for over 180 years. We have around1,500 pubs and 12,000 employees who have helped shape the company we are today. As we move into a new era with a new Chief Executive Officer, leading the way, we’re becoming a solely pub-focused business —which is why this is such an exciting time to be involved. Join us as a Career Development Trainer and help set up our team for future growth and success.
We’ve created this new role in response to changes in the market and at our business—but career progression has always been a big thing for us. In this role, you’ll ensure our training sets us apart from the competition and that our development opportunities are head and shoulders above the rest of the industry.
Your role will be to create internal programmes for our pub teams in support of existing measures and to provide a fluid career journey right from induction. You’ll collaborate with operational stakeholders and colleagues across the business including training professionals and HRBPs. Their input, and that of your team, will be important in helping you design development programmes that create progression opportunities for our team members that they can’t get with our competitors. We want everyone to know that a career at Marston’s is worth staying for.
We already offer a range of ways our people can progress, including chef and management development programmes plus kitchen and front of house apprenticeships. We’ve seen team members progress through our career paths to various management roles and kitchen porters become head chefs, often within only a few short years. Your training innovations will make those stories more common, but no less special.
You might have a background in hospitality, or you might be from another industry. Either way, you’ll be able to devise forward thinking online, classroom, digital and task-based learning resources and training materials that inspire engagement. Happy training face-to-face or over Teams and fully Office 365 literate, you’ll be able to adapt to our Career Path Learning (CPL) software, plus our recently introduced online gaming training app.
The results? Better retention, improved performance and increased participation in development programmes. When your approach pays off, it’s not just our team members’ career prospects you’ll be helping—it'll be yours too.
