£13,200Our Community Hub and Public House, The Templehall Inn, is seeking new tenants that will enable our wee pub to remain the convivial focus that it has become for our small, rural community in the Scottish Borders.
Morebattle is situated at the foot of the Cheviot Hills on the Scottish side of the border with Northumberland. The village is on the St Cuthbert’s Way walking path between Melrose Abbey and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. We have a busy Summer season with walkers and holiday makers to the scenic, relaxing Scottish Borders and a quieter Winter period where the activities as a community hub come more to the fore.
Sadly, as a result of ill health, our current tenants have been forced to relinquish their positions and we are looking for the right people to take over the running of our Community Hub and Inn from November 2025. We have on offer;
A fully community supported tenancy in a rural location
Traditional snug bar area with large restaurant/ function room
Fully equipped commercial kitchen
Generous outdoor space including car park and scenic beer garden
Hotel accommodation comprising 5 ensuite rooms
Established local trade
Flexible tenancy conditions, no brewery ties
Private rooms available for use by tenants
We wish to continue to provide; a warm and friendly welcome to travellers and visitors to the region through a smooth-running bed and breakfast facility, sensible options for evening meals, and the opportunity to mix with locals in a friendly bar and at locally organised events. In return the building and fixtures will be maintained and potentially further developed by the community, taking into consideration the views and bright ideas of our tenants. Our tenants in return will need to be prepared to run their own business, as a free house, paying a mutually agreed and negotiable rent to help the community cover general building costs and plan for the future. It should be noted, that on-site accommodation options, whilst available, may not suit the needs of a family, so prospective tenants should take this into consideration when applying.
If you are looking for a change of scene and want to be at the heart of a thriving rural community – this is very much your chance. If this might be for you, please get in touch with us at the email/ telephone number below from where you will be sent the information pack and application form. We look forward to welcoming you to the Templehall Inn.
